Jereme Richmond is probably pretty good, and here is more evidence.
With any luck this will soon become a multi-part series, detailing just how good at basketball this kid is, and today, we have news that suggests it will be. Jereme Richmond will be playing in the FIBA world games in San Antonio this year as part of the under 18 team, an honor that has not been held by an Illini since both Dee Brown and Deron Williams in 2002 (ah, memories.) This is a pretty big deal. The team will be coached by Oklahoma's Jeff Capel and will also feature two of next year's all everything recruits Austin Rivers and Illini target Quincy Miller. (Let the message board chatter about how Jereme might influence his decision begin.....now) Jereme will be playing with some the nation's best players and presumably against some of the best in the world, tomorrow's Pau Gasol and Anderson Varejão.
This is of course good for the following reasons:
- It is a good experience for any player with his skills to play with the best in the world.
- It enhances the national profile of the University of Illinois
- It will get people talking about how good we're going to be this season, rather how we didn't make the NCAA's last year.
- It is an excuse for me to show the picture of Jereme in an Avenged Sevenfold T-shirt again.
Rock on, Jereme, with the skills of Synyster Gates and the passion of Zacky Vengeance, this time, for freedom and America.

I was listening to Coldplay while reading this.
Does this make me a puny weakling?
(Keep in mind, I think Avenged Sevenfold sucks. But they seem fun to hang out with.)
St. Louis Game Time . . . I need another beer.
And I can also write things in 140 characters or fewer.
nice!
