Bruce Weber Emotional Report Card: Everything to lose

A quick look at the pic today. Not quite the same as the usual format.

Bruce Weber, with the latest loss to Wisconsin at home, how much is riding on the Friday game in the Big Ten Tournament?

Pretty much what we all thought.

Well, I guess that's better than saying something like . . .

you say it because I can't.

I mean I guess I could, but it might be a little awkward the next time I ask him post game questions

Gonzaga losing last night,

might’ve killed our chances. Balls.

not exactly

What it does is force us to demonstrate we are a legit NCAA team by being able to win at least ONE game in the Big 10 tourney. If we can’t do that, then honestly I would have no beef with the NCAA selection committee leaving us off the final list. It would suck, but that’s reality.

Too many losses early in the season to pretty weak non-conference teams (see: Utah, Georgia). Too many recent choked losses to other mediocre teams (see: Minnesota loss a week or so ago). Too many games against good teams where, quite frankly we were blown out and didn’t look like we even belonged on the same court with them (see: Ohio State loss last week). A couple of good wins for us, yes, but too few, too scattered to make it look like anything other than we happened to get lucky a couple of times.

We are basically THE definition of a large-conference bubble team. Sub-20 wins. Conference record right around .500. A few good wins, a few bad losses. Flaming out without a single win in your conference tourney when the rest of your resume is what I listed above is basically the death knell. And rightfully so.
