As it should be: Jereme Richmond named Illinois Mr. Basketball
For the second year in a row, the Mr. Basketball for the state of Illinois is coming to the University of Illinois. Jereme Richmond was named so today by the state's media and coaches. He is a McDonald's All American, he is Mr. Basketball, he is an Illini.
I made a lot out of having Brandon Paul, the 2009 IMB coming to Illinois last year, but this year looks even more important. We are talking Dee Brown important. We are talking Frank Williams and Brian Cook back to back years important. Need a quick refresher on why getting the Illinois Mr. Basketball (along with the other accolades that Richmond has) is so important? Well for one, John Scheyer (2006 IMB) is playing in this year's Final Four, Derrick Rose (2007 IMB) is the starting point guard for the Bulls, and Julian Wright and Shaun Livingston are collecting paychecks themselves.
What I am saying is, when you get the best player from the state of Illinois, there is a pretty damn good chance he is bound for greatness. Congratulations to Jereme Richmond, for an excellent High School career, now please get to Champaign as fast as is humanly possible.
Now lets all rock out to Avenged Sevenfold.

Lack of D
I’ve heard effort on the defensive end is not necessarily forthcoming with Richmond. Let us hope he doesn’t drop an ego bomb on C/U
