How to spend your time between Gameday and the Michigan State game

Its a very long time between the end of ESPN Gameday taping at 11 AM and the tip off of that night's matchup against Michigan State at 8pm. If you are visiting from out of town you may not know how to spend these long hours between screaming and frothing at the mouth trying to get Rece Davis to wave at you. Unless you know where the fun is at in the CU you maybe in for a very boring day. But fear not my ignorant friend I have assembled a to do list that should keep you entertained on an otherwise cold and soul crushing Saturday on the prairie.

  1. Visit the Alma Mater, because you enjoy being obvious and uncreative.
Delving deep into the college lifestyle of the University of Illinois is just not for you, you want to see the old statue in the front of the quad, have your picture taken and then probably take a long nap with a glass of warm milk. Warning there will more than likely already be several dozen people here doing the exact same thing, and more than likely being just as uninteresting as you.
  2. Eat an entire Papa Del's medium stuffed pizza and die of the resulting GI tract rupture.
You might be the type who enjoys a good cheese pizza every now and again, but also wishes that his pizza slice could be 5 inches thick and made entirely of cheese. You may also not particularly pay much attention to nutritional guidelines if you consume more than one of these slices in a 24 hour period, because your 2000 calorie per day limit was breached with that first bite. It is pretty tasty though.

Star-divide

  • Visit KAM's "just for the experience"
Champaign's oldest continually active campus bar is an institution for Illinois students since the time of my grandparents. Indeed several generations have known KAM's as the place to be on Friday nights, and vomiting outside of on Saturday morning. Just tell yourself the sticky floor is from spilled beer and you will have a lot more fun.
  • Visit the Library, ask yourself when you became such a nerd.
It has the largest browsable collections of books in America and one of the largest University libraries period. Go ahead and visit the extensive eastern European collection and then realize that you are young and entirely too cool to be spending your free time like this. KAM's is after all only a block away.
  • I am sure there are other options for you to spend your free time, but I don't know of any more appealing than these.
