"I want you to kill every gopher on the golf course!"

“Correct me if I’m wrong Sandy, but if I kill all the golfers, they’re gonna lock me up and throw away the key . . . "

“Not GOLFERS, you great fool! GOPHERS! The little, brown, furry rodents!”

Carl: “We can do that. We don’t even have to have a reason. All right, let’s do the same thing but with GOPHERS!”

The BTN crew said that . . .

the last time Minnesota won at Illinois, it was Lou Henson’s last home game as head coach.

Which is a lie, since he coached an NIT game at home after that . . . and lost that one too. Forgot who the opponent was.

good lord

why can’t they figure out a zone defense

sure looks like it

i mean we have the perfect components to break down a zone (a big pg who can penetrate and bounce of the big bodies, two bigs who are comfortable shooting from wings)

but we don’t ever try to get the ball in the middle of the zone

Davis should be at the FT line in the middle, the ball should be dumped into him with shooters on the wings ready to spot up

DJ is at least drawing the fouls by attacking the basket

we have settled for shots no where near our comfort area, either with the ball or off the pass, this team needs to attack the basket

by Joe Kutsunis on Feb 27, 2010 3:40 PM CST reply actions

where is the intensity and effort

they’re not getting into the tourney with another loss like this unless they win 2 more games against Wisco/Ohst

by DartmouthCubsFan on Feb 27, 2010 3:43 PM CST reply actions

definitely not over by any means

but the combination of lack of effort and lack of intelligence on the court is startling whenever we face a zone defense

it slows down everything and the whole team starts standing around

which is the last thing you want to do against a zone

you can find openings and shoot j’s, but they aren’t going to be open very long and taking a slow route only makes it more difficult

by Joe Kutsunis on Feb 27, 2010 4:02 PM CST up reply actions

well we have some grim numbers that might explain the historically bad first half

Demetri is 1-8, Mike Davis is 0-2 and brandon paul is 0-4, not exactly the production you would hope

they've switched back to man-to-man

we can score on them in a man-to-man set. Cole’s 3’s forced that change and could be huge
