The Disease of College Basketball: The Hair.
As stared I at Matt Painter's excellently cemented slicked back coif and compared it Steve Lavin's identical iron clad and motionless gel monstrosity that sits atop his head, I wondered when and how this became the hair style of choice for so many coaches.
All taking a cue from Pat Riley, are Rick Pitino, and Calipari.
...and Jamie Dixon and Bo Ryan and Todd Lickliter and even Billy Donovan, who barely even has enough hair to slick back.
Sooner or later every coach in basketball is going to end up looking a lot more like George Clooney in O! Brother Where Art Thou? than John Wooden.

I seem to remember Painter had that sort of hairstyle when he played. There’ve been tweaks over the years but I think the basic idea’s been the same.

Maybe in 20-30 years these guys will all have Lou-dos or Keady combovers, though.

That last sentence . . . oh so true.
And will any of these guys be coaching by then? We know Lavin won’t be, but . . . yeah, y’know.
