Martez Wilson will have surgery, out for season.
You would think that if there was any time during football season it would be okay for me to take a long drive back home and be away from the computer all day it would be on the bye week, well apparently not.
Martez Wilson freshly converted MLB for the 2009 season, has seen his season come to an abrupt end. Thanks to a herniated disk, the same injury that had him sidelined in the last minute against Illinois State on Saturday. He will have surgery to correct the problem and according to Zook he is expected to make a very strong recovery and return next year.
This has got to be a great disappointment for Tez, who went through a hell of a lot just to be ready to play this season, after being stabbed last year. This was the year that I thought he would have a breakout season and show why he was so highly touted coming out of HS. Apparently though, we will have to wait at least another year for that.
This also eliminates any chance Tez had of leaving early for the NFL after this season, and will make it even tougher to prove he is up for the NFL's grueling season, as he will now have two injuries in college to overcome.
Tez is strong and very fast, and hopefully will make a complete recovery from this injury, it is only football after all and I hope he first and foremost takes care of himself. Neck surgery is no joke.
As for what this means for the defense this year, it means one of the positions with the least amount of depth has lost a starter, and alot of unknown or unproven players will have to prove themselves. Aaron Gress and Russell Ellington are going to see alot more time now, and the surprise that has been Ian Thomas will be even more heavily relied upon. Overall though, we have not seen enough of Tez this season, or the defense in general to know just how much of a loss this will turn out to be. Make no mistake, Tez is a great player and it will have an impact, but thus far the linebackers have not turned out to be as bad as we may have worried.

When I saw this at (what I consider) tWWL's douchebag of a website . . .
my jaw dropped and I could’ve sworn I was misreading it.
Then when I figured out that it, in fact, was real . . . the only thing I could utter was “FUCK!”
Not good. Not good at all. But nothing that he, nor the team, can’t bounce back from.
One day, David Backes and Albert Pujols will combine forces to become the most awesome piece of violent force known to man.
