The Linking Illini is now operating full time.

It has been a long summer, where my day job kept me away from any form of internet access until 5pm. Blogging isn't easy with that sort of restriction. But, lucky for me, I am now heading back to the bum life of the full time student. I can now devote all my free time to blogging and drinking, as it should be. Expect more timely posts with perhaps increased quality, no promises though. Anyway, on to the links.

  • Fayson rings in with Illini - STLtoday.com
A look at the most speculated about player on the Illini roster. He has a MNC ring, and he left Florida, with Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow throwing passes, to come to Illinois, where Juice Williams will be chucking the ball around. I don't know how Zook sold that to Jarred but I'm not going to question it, Fayson runs a 4.4 40 and is likely going to be the go to guy on special teams this year. He could be a game changer.

  • Senior year will define legacy of Illinois QB Williams -Sporting News
A sort of odd write up of the expectations of Juice in his senior year. Lets get one thing straight, he is going to leave this school as the all time leader in total offense, and no doubt one of the most recognizable players in the program's history.

  • Wilson discusses stabbing - IlliniHQ.com
Martez was finally able to address the events last December that left him in the hospital with stab wounds. Wilson came to the aid of D'Angelo McCray who was being kicked on the ground by a bunch of hooligans. Wilson tried to pull them off of him and got stabbed for his efforts. If this teaches us nothing else, it is that you don't go to Fubar on $1 Corona night.

  • Thomas' knee '90 percent' healed - IlliniHQ.com
Miami Thomas happens to be a personal favorite player of mine, mostly because I got to see him make a fool out of Todd Boeckman in the 2007 OSU game. Given the problems we suffered in the secondary last year it was extra painful to see Thomas go down running on Memorial Stadium's brand new turf. Blame it on the turf if you will but Thomas says "Thomas said. "It was a freak accident. I was trying to plant and get away from the ball. I stuck my foot in the ground, a guy pushed me in the back and I tried to turn at the same time." Either way Miami says that 90% for him is better than 100% for others, I hope he has his speed back is all I can say.

I, too, can't wait for the return of Miami Thomas.

Wonder if he has any brothers or cousins named Orlando, Jacksonville and/or Kissimmee.

One day, David Backes and Albert Pujols will combine forces to become the most awesome piece of violent force known to man.

I am very, VERY excited about the combo of Fayson/Benn.

With two legit receiving threats like them, and Juice, this offense is going to be hard to stop.
