Hmm, that did not go well, Tisdale does not make USA WUG basketball team.
You may remember last week that Mike Davis broke his ankle in the practices leading up to the Team USA World University Basketball Games tryout. Aside from the obvious downside of having a major injury to a key player to the team, it also meant that it would be unlikely to have any representation on the USA-WUG team. Since Bruce is on the committee for selecting the players, Mike Tisdale was selected to fill the tryout spot. Go figure. I would argue maybe that Tisdale's style of basketball would go very well in international play, but I wouldn't say that he is among the top 5 big Men in College Basketball either. So it should come as no surprise that Tis will not be making his way to Serbia with a roster spot for team USA. Tisdale of course feels that it was an honor just to be considered (considered mostly by Bruce I have a feeling) but I don't think this is a snub or travesty or any of that. The Illini team was a team with out stars or stand outs, and one that played as a team first and foremost. It would have been a huge surprise to me if any of these players had actually made an "all star" type of team. That doesn't mean they are crap, it just isn't the type of basketball Bruce coaches, and its not what we have used to win.

This was expected.
Because in international play, the last thing you need is a 7’-plus dude who can shoot from outside the lane.
Yeah, this was a dumb move on their part, but not unexpected.
