Illini vs Presbyterian Open Thread: Its all predestined anyhow.
Presbyterian Blue Hose at Illinois Fighting Illini, Nov 21, 2009 7:00 PM CST
Tonight is technically the opening round of the Las Vegas Invitational tournament that finishes this weekend, what would happen in the event of an Illini loss tonight or against Wofford is very much unknown. Do we still go?
Are we eliminated? Does it effect us in the least? I haven't a clue. On the bright side, there is no plausible scenario where the Illini do not win tonight against Presbyterian. If everything holds to plan the Illini will dispatch the Presbyterians with ease tonight, in a manner that I am sure would please John Calvin.
Really, why fight it, the tickets have already been purchased for the Illini, the Invitational is advertising that we will be there, and the official schedule even says we are playing Utah on Friday night at 9:30, clearly this has all been laid out for us beforehand. I guess there still can be some surprises, though.
Tonight we find out if Brandon Paul can keep his unreal start going, if Mike Davis can go for a third straight double-double, and if Bruce will finally lose his voice entirely. There wont many students in the house tonight due to Thanksgiving Break, so hopefully enough of you out there have jumped on the opening and decided to go to a basketball game tonight.

dominique playing like he wants a spot in the starting lineup
a jam, a rebound and a foul against, rather quickly.

ecstatic, especially after a great couple of plays there by Bill Cole, the “effort” king

the illini probably wont break 100 tonight
but the mid 90s again is pretty nice, makes us look almost as good as Tennesse amirite?

Hey Joe,
Former Boilermaker but closet Illini fan in my spare time (whenever they don’t play Purdue for the most part). Went to the game with my sister last night. Not a bad stadium down at Assembly Hall, and I was well aware it’s normally far fuller and crazier than that, so I judged it accordingly.
Question I had for you: what’s your take on Tisdale? Seemed like Bruce had him stapled to the bench, and with good reason. The people sitting near us were on his case more than anybody else. Also, I went to Portland in the spring for the opening two rounds and got to see Illinois-WKU, and Tisdale just looked completely lost. Think this is permanent, or will he play his way out of it?

Tisdale has had his ups and downs over the last year or so
and yesterday was definitely a down, I think I saw him make two or three straight turnovers at one point, and thats what landed him on the bench.
At this point Tisdale is pretty well set into the rotation, but not because of his rebounding, mostly his ability to score. We havent really seen a great game from him yet this year, but there are times when he looks awfully good. Tyler Griffey will be putting pressure on him from the bench but thats about it, he is still going to be the best option at center all year.
