Breaking News: Juice Williams Benched for Eddie McGee

After a 1-3 start, and the third straight game where the offense failed to move the ball down the field, Ron Zook has done what was thought to be unthinkable just a short few weeks ago. Juice Williams will not be starting against Michigan State next Saturday, in favor of RS Junior Eddie McGee.

Zook characterized the decision as "not a knee jerk reaction" and that "this is not all about Juice"

This all comes after the game in which Juice overtook Kurt Kitner as the school's all time offensive leader. Juice is a four-year starter, senior QB, that once led his team to the Rose Bowl, and only last year threw for over 3,000 yards, leading the conference in passing yards. Today, he is no longer your starting quarterback.

To say the least this is a major shake up. I will have more on what this means to the team later today.

I think we all knew this was coming.

I just didn’t expect it so soon.

Bad Juice showed up

for 3 games and Zook gave him a chance. Good Juice shows up for most of the PSU game and afterwards he hits the bench. I guess this would be an appropriate time to get McGee ready for 2010.

I can’t really argue with the decision because he’s been so erratic, but hasn’t it been the defense making it hard to earn victories moreso than Isaiah Williams?

with a score so close at halftime

and even so close at the end of the third quarter, Juice had alot of opportunities to take this game from Penn State

I guess my arguement was

that the loss wasn’t wholely on Juice. It wasn’t like he went out and laid an egg and threw 3 horrible interceptions at home against Iowa.

I thought he played his best game of the year against the best D he’s faced and it was the Illinois D that broke down in the 2nd half rather that Juice blowing it.

Huh.

This is pretty stunning. Not even this morning did I think this was possible.
